In Celebration of National Singles Awareness Day
I admit, when I first posted about Valentines Day being unofficially known as “National Singles Awareness Day,” I was being sarcastic and cheeky. Now I’m kinda serious. Why NOT celebrate being single? Most of the time I think being single is pretty fucking great. Sure I occasionally have my moments when I miss having a snugglebug, but these cravings are actually less frequent than when I was in a serious relationship and mourned the loss of my single days.
So fuck it. Fuck Valentine’s Day. And I’m not saying this to be bitter–not at all. I’ve found that my first Valentine’s Day with a new boyfriend was usually pretty nice, but every year afterward usually involved us arguing over why he should make me dinner for once. What I’m saying is, why feel guilty or pissy on Valentine’s Day for being single? Why not celebrate being single? Because quite frankly I love the freedom (and the selfishness) that comes with singledom. Hell fucking yeah I’m going to celebrate that.
