The FAMILY: Ducking the Guilt Stick

I’m getting nervous about seeing my extended family at Thanksgiving. This will be the first time I see all my many relatives since the break-up four and a half months ago.

Considering that the last time I saw my family at our summer reunion and they were all teasing me and The Ex about when we going to get married–I’m worried. Very about-to-piss-myself worried.

My family is huge (I have twenty aunts and uncles, plus all of their progeny), Catholic (ie constantly fighting each other over who gets to smack who with the Guilt Stick), and opinionated.

Ironic Update

Remember just the other day how I was so bummed out about this guy taking that position I want in another department?

Um, well, apparently I was wrong about that.

Yesterday Hopeful Future New Boss asked if he could interview me with the two other senior heads of the department that afternoon.

Say what.

So I had my official interview. I nailed it. They were very impressed. But they said they have one outside person left to interview before they would get back to me.

It’s been nearly three months since this whole process started.  Just when I thought I’d lost it, it turns out it’s right there in my hands. So in celebration I had lots of wine and cheese last night and fell asleep at 9pm. GO ME.
